Here we want to make a drawing of a sample part so first of all you need to download the related part from solidworksadvisor then open the part in solidworks:
I choose this part because of its shape we can work different aspects of solidworks drawing. Click on file and from the drop down menu select “make drawing from the part”.
If it is your first drawing then solidworks asks you to choose your desired sheet size. Uncheck “only show standard sheet size” and from the menu select “A4 (ANSI) landscape”. See the window in the following picture.
Press ok. a brand new drawing document will be created:
there are some standard views on the right side of your screen. All you have to do is to drag your desired view and drop it in the sheet. We start with isometric view. left click and hold on isometric view then drag and drop it into the sheet like this:
The drawing view window appears on the left. click ok.
Click on the view palette:
The standard views once again on the right. This time choose bottom and drag it to the drawing :
Click on the hidden lines visible:
Now we want to create a section cut to see the inside bore. Click on the section view:
Click on the middle of the bottom line:
And sketch a line to the top of the view. left click and drag the mouse to the right and click again to place the section view
Click on the detail view:
Draw this circle:
Click on the bottom left corner:
Now we have all the necessary views and we can add some dimensions. Click on the annotation tab.click on the smart dimension.
For creating dimensions you need to choose the start and end points:
Then drag it to a side:
Add some necessary dimensions like below:
We were creating views so far so let’s edit the title bar now. We should edit the sheet format for this purpose. Click on the edit menu and navigate to the “sheet format” option and select it.
Now we can edit the title block:
Double click any part of the table for editing for example double click on the title ((drawing sample)) and type your desired title.
Now you know the basics go on and train what you just learnt. If you need to edit the views again just select “sheet” from edit menu.
